A report by the Police shows that
boda boda riders and teachers top the list of defilement suspects in the last
five months in Bugisu.
Addressing the media on Monday,
Rogers Taitika the Elgon Region Police Spokesman said that they registered over
100 defilement cases in the last five months. According to Taitika, some cases
are settled in the community without Police being notified.
He says that some suspects have been
arraigned in court and convicted while others are on remand in different prison
facilities in Bugisu.

Sironko Resident District Commissioner says that most boda boda riders lure
young girls into defilement by offering free lifts. He also says that some
teachers promise free marks to pupils in exchange for sex. Balwaniregha has
called for responsible parenting.
