Bududa District Local Government has launched the construction of the Bubuya Gravity Flow Scheme project.

The project, valued at over 357 million shillings, is funded by the Ministry of Water and Environment and will serve all sub-counties in Manjiya County, including Bushika, Bududa Town Council, and Bududa Sub-County, and construction work will take 5 months.

During the launch, Elijah Madoi, the Resident District Commissioner of Bududa, emphasized the importance of quality work, cautioning the contractor against shoddy workmanship. He urged the contractor to complete the project within the stipulated five-month period.

Martin Mukula Max, the Bududa Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, highlighted the project's significance, stating that it will improve access to clean water for communities in the Bududa District. Notably, the water will be provided free of charge, unlike national water, to enable poor people to access clean water.

Sam Wanzala and Zadok Wepukhulu, both residents of Bududa Town Council, expressed their happiness with the project, saying they have been suffering a lot, especially during the dry season, to access clean water.
