Mbale District Chairperson Muhammad Mafabi says his decision to drop the Vice Chairperson Tony Wamagale is within his mandate.
Wamagale was also the Secretary for Finance, Mbale District Local Government Council.
According to Mafabi, with 36 Councilors at his disposal, he ought to give an opportunity to others to serve in the four positions available in the executive. He says the decision has no hidden motives but only aimed at building the capacity of all the councilors in leadership.
James Masaba the District Councilor representing Bufumbo Sub County and a lawyer says there is nothing wrong with the decision taken by Chairman Mafabi to drop Tony Wamagale. Masaba says the decision cannot even be challenged by the council.
