Opposition Chief Whip John Baptist Nambeshe has blamed President Yoweri Museveni for the continued infighting amongst opposition political parties.

This follows disagreement among several leaders in the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party over the source of some party funds. Members of Parliament from the Democratic Party (DP) are also not in support of the cooperation agreement signed between Democratic Party President General Norbert Mao and the ruling National Resistance Movement. According to Nambeshe who is also the Manjiya County legislator, President Museveni’s 2020 pronouncement that he would wipe out the opposition could be the reason they are riddled with internal fights.

Nambeshe the National Unity Platform (NUP) Vice President for Eastern Uganda says the infiltration has not spared them. He says they have also lost some members to the Muhoozi Kainerugaba (MK) Movement and must work hard to maintain party cohesion.

Budadiri East Member of Parliament Isaiah Sasaga says that despite the FDC contradictions, the leadership of Patrick Oboi Amuriat as President and Nathan Nandala Mafabi as the Secretary General has steadily managed the party. Sasaga says the ongoing party grass root elections are legal and should be respected by all party members.
