Pupils at Budadiri Girls Primary School in Budadiri town council in Sironko District are struggling to access clean water.

The school head teacher Rosemary Negesa says because of the inadequate water supply, pupils have to go outside the school and this exposes them to a number of risks as girl children. The school is day and boarding and the only girls school with blind and deaf pupils.

Speaking at the annual general meeting on Saturday, Negesa said that despite having national water, most taps have run dry because of the hot season. She says the children have to go to water sources outside the school. She asked the Sironko District Authorities to provide a borehole to solve the problem.

Francis Maniaku the Budadiri Town Council LCIII Chairperson says the girl children must be protected by having water sources in the school precincts.

Florence Nambozo the Sironko District Woman legislator says the Sironko District Water officers have given assurances that a borehole will be constructed at Budadiri Girls Primary School.
