
An operation aimed at curbing the
increasing levels of criminality in Mbale City hassled to the arrest of seven
bangi smokers.
The operation led by
Police and the Mbale Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC) Yahaya Were
targeted Namakwekwe ward in Mbale City.
The suspects are
being held at Northern City Division Central police station. Were says the
crackdown was necessitated by an increase in cases of insecurity like theft and
rape. Were says the suspects were found with aviation fuel, marijuana and knives.
Sarah Namataka one of
the residents in Namakwekwe ward welcomed the operation saying it will bring
relief to the area.
