The Saboti people, an indigenous group in Bukokho Sub County in Namisindwa District and Sebei sub-region want Parliament to expedite the process of recognizing them as one of the tribes in Uganda.

The Saboti group migrated from Western Kenya in the late 80s. Speaking at the launch of their circumcision ceremony on Sunday, Wickliffe Juma Chengun the clan chairperson of the Saboti in Namisindwa district says they are marginalized when it comes to service delivery and there is need to recognize them.

John Musila the Bubulo East Member of Parliament says he raised the matter on the floor of Parliament in August this year. According to Musila, he intends to follow up the matter to ensure it is handled expeditiously.

Sarah Khanakwa a hopeful for the Namisindwa Woman Parliamentary race wants the Saboti to benefit from the various government programmes as they await official recognition as a tribe.
