Sakwa a hopeful for the Bubulo East Parliamentary position in Namisindwa
District has donated 100 packs of blood glucose test strips to Bumbo Health
Centre III in a bid to improve health service delivery.
A blood glucose test strips help in
screening for diabetes by measuring the level of glucose (sugar) in one’s
blood.
Receiving the blood glucose test strips,
the Bumbo Health Centre III in-charge, David Mupuya applauded Sakwa for the
donation saying it will supplement government effort in fighting non-communicable
diseases like diabetes and blood pressure in the community.
According to Mupuya, despite government
sending the health facility only 100 test strips, they usually run out of stock
in two months. He says that many residents have embraced diabetes screening but
the facility is still challenged by inadequate drugs to treat diabetic
patients.
Mupuya challenged leaders at various
levels to advocate for more drugs to Bumbo Health Centre III.
George Sakwa says that the donation follows a gap in the blood glucose testing strips and a request by the health centre in-charge about the need to supplement government effort. Sakwa has urged residents to visit health units to be able to know their health status. By: Sawa Ronald
