Namisindwa District Local Government Council has passed a motion backing the recently passed Anti-Homosexuality Bill by Parliament.

The motion was proposed by Emma Bwayo, the Youth Councilor for Namisindwa District in council meeting chaired by the Deputy Speaker Ronald Butsiba. The motion was unanimously seconded by the entire council.

According to Bwayo, Namisindwa has been in the spotlight for corruption, defilement and registered the first covid-19 death. He says there must be no room for homosexuality in the district.

David Masika, the Bukokho sub county LCV Councilor, says some cases of homosexuality were recently reported in Namisindwa, and as a council, they join the rest of the country to condemn the acts.

Hajji Imran Muluga the Namisindwa Resident District Commissioner has commended the council for the passing the motion saying the same energy should be directed towards the fight against corruption.
