Expectant mothers in Bulambuli District seek services of traditional birth attendants as opposed to the government health units.

Mary Nagami one of the expectant mothers says that most health centres lack enough beds and this forces them to look for alternatives ending up in the hands of traditional birth attendants (TBAs).
Anna Wemesa another resident calls upon government to stock the health units with beds to accommodate expectant mothers.
The inadequate beds made Members of Parliament from Bulambuli District to raised funds and purchase 64 beds for health facilities that have maternity wards. The beds were handed over yesterday by the Bulambuli District Woman Member of Parliament Eng. Irene Nafuna Muloni at a function held at Muyembe Health Centre.
Muloni said the beds will held in reducing the shortage that had hit most health units in Bulambuli District.
Vincent Natega the Bulambuli district health officer said that most health units have a limited number of beds and yet they receive a high number of expectant mothers on daily basis.
