Vocational institutions have been urged to consider admitting children with special needs.


This call was made by Kambaho Narasi Anyijuka the principal communication and public relations officer at the Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB). Kambaho sounded the call while touring government aided vocational schools in Bugisu that are currently undertaking UBTEB examinations.

Kambaho who led a team from UBTEB visited Uganda Technical College, Elgon and Mbale School for the Deaf.

Addressing the media after the visits, Kambaho said the fact that government has put emphasis on vocational studies in a bid to fight unemployment among young people, children with special needs should also be considered.

Paul Otaboi the deputy head teacher in charge of the vocational section at Mbale School for the Deaf called for more sensitization on the need
