Three people have perished in a road accident in Namunsi village, Northern City Division in Mbale City.
Eight people are nursing injuries sustained in the accident along the Mbale-Sironko road.
The deceased have been identified as Iddi Isiko a driver from Sironko, Ismael Muyindi a conductor from Kaduwa village in Sironko and Hakim Magombe a resident of Mooni ward in Industrial City Division. The three were travelling in a taxi registration number UBX 566B heading to Sironko from Mbale City.
Moses Mutabingwa the Elgon Region Traffic Officer says the taxi hit a black pajero registration number UBL 027E moving to Mbale City from Sironko.
Mutabingwa says the driver of the pajero is on the run while the eight people who got injured in the taxi are receiving treatment at Mt. Elgon Hospital and Mbale Regional Referral Hospital. Mutabingwa says that the vehicles have been towed to Northern City Division Police Headquarters as investigations into the accident continue.
