The traffic lights are located at the intersection of Nabuyonga Rise, Mugisu Hill and Pallisa roads. The traffic lights have however been dysfunctional for the last one year which has raised concern among the public. A number of accidents have been registered with the public accusing the authorities at Mbale City Council of not doing enough to fix the traffic lights.

Asumin Nasike the Mbale Resident City Commissioner says that following the release of 8.5 million shillings towards the fixing of the traffic lights, the concerned technical teams should accomplish the work in a week’s time. According to Nasike, this should be given the urgency it deserves since a number of people have been affected by accidents as a result of dysfunctional traffic lights.

Mbale City Public Relations Officer James Kutosi says they have been having a problem with the timers for the traffic lights but have now secured the required software to run them. Kutosi is optimistic that the traffic lights will start functioning within the set ultimatum.
