Supreme
Court Judge Mike Chibita has called for a spirit of patience in a bid to fight societal
challenges.
Justice Chibita sounded the call while presiding over the 9th
Graduation ceremony of Livingstone International University(LIU) in Budaka
District on Friday.
In his message to the 76 students who graduated with
Certificates, Diplomas and Degrees, Justice Chibita said that if Ugandans
exercised some patience and worked hard towards attaining success, ills like
corruption, abortion, sexually transmitted diseases and theft would be no more.
Chibita explained that at the time he was the Director of Public
Prosecution(DPP) he visited many prisons and found that many young people aged
21-35 years were incarcerated over issues that would be avoided if they had
been patient.
The Livingstone International University Vice Chancellor Dr.
Henry Buregea asked the graduating students to use the skills and knowledge
acquired not only for personal benefit but also for societal development
without discrimination.
Anthony Mudoba who graduated with a bachelor’s degree of arts
in education attributed his success to hard work and prayer. Mudoba credits the
university for training him to be a job creator as opposed to being a job
seeker.
