40 people in Busiraka, Bumaina and Buwatiti cells in Bubutu town council in Namisindwa District are homeless after heavy rains destroyed their houses.
Martin Walubenge one of the affected residents says the rains hit the area last evening and lasted for two hours. Walubenge says the rains destroyed 15 houses and crops like maize, coffee and trees.
Sam Wambete another affected person says that he is now stuck with five children after his house was destroyed. Wambete is calling for support towards provision of items like iron sheets.
Moses Mutambo the LCIII chairperson for Bubutu town council says they are going to register all the affected families and submit the list to the Namisindwa District Disaster Mangemnet Committee. In a bid to stem future calamities, Mutambo has called for massive tree planting.
