Kumi Resident District Commissioner Ahamada Washaki has asked young people to stay away from selfish politicians.

Washaki sounded the call yesterday at the pass out of more than 600 students of Uganda Technical College, Elgon. Washaki represented Minister for the presidency Milly Babirye Babalanda. The students underwent a one-week patriotism training organized by office of the president.

According to Washaki, politicians like Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine should credit the NRM government for ushering in peace which has enabled them to amass wealth. He says that young people should not be confused by such selfish politicians but rather encouraged to embrace government programmes in order to progress.

Nsigo Mastula Nankya the Regional Coordinator for Patriotism says the students have been imparted with skills and knowledge on how to plan for the future. Nankya says that young people lack a clearly laid out development plan with many wasting their valuable time in acts of gambling.

Martin Washibukhu the deputy principal, Uganda Technical College, Elgon says the patriotism training has helped the students to realize the need to love the country by working towards engaging in development oriented work.
