Residents of Bubutu
Town Council Cell, Bubutu town council in Namsindwa District have censured
their LCI Chairperson Fred Masika.
Masika who is accused of conniving with a group of thugs to
torment the area has been replaced with Martin Kito, the defence secretary.
An election to replace Masika was conducted by Moses Mutambo the
LCIII Chairperson of Bubutu Town Council. According to Mutambo, the residents
called for the elections citing increased criminality under the watchful eye of
the area chairperson, Fred Masika.
Following the censure, two candidates Apollo Lusha and Martin
Kito expressed interest in the vacant leadership position. The two candidates
were subjected to an election and Martin Kito garnered 150 votes against Apollo
Lusha’s 4 votes.
Samuel Musawu one of the residents has welcomed the change in
leadership saying it will bring sanity in the area.
