The incident reportedly occurred as Nyungu was approaching the premises of Bukokho Church of Uganda to attend an overnight prayer.

Reports indicate that the two had a misunderstanding stemming from an earlier incident in which Musawale accused Nyungu of kicking his dog. Musawale allegedly waited for him on Friday night and attacked him with a panga. Nyungu was rushed by Good Samaritans to Magale Health Centre IV, where he later died.

Bukokho Sub-county LCIII Chairperson, John Wafula, says that they have activated all security structures to track the suspect so that he can face justice.

The Namisindwa LCV Chairperson-elect, Emma Bwayo, attributed the incident to rising cases of drug abuse and mental health challenges among young people. According to Bwayo, many youths fail to tame their anger because of engaging in drug abuse.
