Bukonde
Secondary School, a government aided institution will get UGX 500 million
shillings for construction of new facilities in the coming financial year
2024/2025.
A letter dated June 11, 2024 from Ketty Lamaro the
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education& Sports indicates that the
procurement of civil works for the school will be undertaken by the local
government while the working documents like the bills of quantities and
technical drawings will be obtained from the Ministry.
Abubakar Masifa, the Bukonde Secondary School Head
teacher says the grant will address some of the pressing infrastructure challenges.
According to Masifa, the school faces a number of challenges like inadequate
classrooms and lack of a laboratory and library.
Mbale City Mayor Cassim Namugali says Bukonde
Secondary School is being developed into a model school in the City despite its
rural location.
