A police officer attached to Petta Police Post in Petta
Sub-County Tororo District has shot to death his Superior, the In-Charge Petta
Police post.
According to a
police statement issued by the Bukedi South Police Spokesperson Moses Mugwe,
Sgt Ochom William Francis aged 58 years shot his boss, IP Okwele Moses, the OC
Petta Police post after a quarrel related to a gun.
Mugwe says, the
incident happened inside Petta Police post after the two picked a quarrel over
the gun Sgt Ochom was holding.
It’s alleged that
the pair were seated together before the incident happened. In the process, the
two exchanged bullets with Ochom pumping about four bullets in Okwele’s stomach
killing him instantly.
Ochom who is
currently admitted at Tororo General Hospital sustained gunshot injuries on his
legs. The body of the deceased was taken to Tororo Main Hospital mortuary for
postmortem.
