Kawempe South Member of Parliament, Muhammad Ssegirinya and National Unity Platform (NUP) deputy spokesperson Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro have reunited.
For months now, the two have been involved in a war of words despite belonging to the same party. Their feud had been triggered by Mufumbiro’s statements in which he accused Ssegirinya of faking his illness and using his situation to put NUP in disrepute.
Upon return to the country from the Netherlands where he had been receiving treatment for skin cancer, Ssegirinya, last month, expressed his bitterness with the NUP deputy spokesperson’s statements which he deemed painful. Ssegirinya had even decreed that Mufumbiro should never step at his burial. However, on Tuesday, the pair met at NUP headquarters and buried the hatchet.
Speaking at the party headquarters, Ssegirinya blamed his previous feud with Mufumbiro on anger, and apologized to the NUP mouthpiece. In the same way, Mufumbiro asked for Ssegirinya’s forgiveness for the statements he made about him.
