Police in Bududa District are investigating circumstances under which a 30-year-old man has been earning a salary from the government disguised as a teacher.
Rogers Taitika the Elgon Region Police Spokesman identifies the suspect as Wambalya Prosper.
According to Taitika, the suspect has been earning government salary as a teacher at Bulucheke Secondary School.
It is alleged that in 2022, Wambalya presented forged appointment and posting letters from the ministry education and sports to the Bulucheke school administration and was duly allowed to start teaching.
Taitika says the suspect has been at Bulucheke S.S from March last year and the issue was discovered in May this year. He says Wambalya had gotten close to 40 million shillings in salary for the last one year.
He says the matter is being investigated and other people suspected to have connived with Wambalya to defraud the government are still at large.
