Police Warns Against Violence during Electoral Process

The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Bamunoba Ubaldo, the Chief Political Commissar (CPC) of the Uganda Police Force has warned all stakeholders in the election process to desist from acts of violence and hooliganism.

 


In an interview with Elgon FM, AIGP Bamunoba said that with political temperatures going up as the country prepares to hold general elections, it is important for all stakeholders including voters and political leaders to abide by electoral laws so that the country peacefully goes through the electoral process.

According to Bamunoba, the police and other sister agencies will not tolerate acts of violence and hooliganism by political actors.

Bamunoba says that following the Kawempe North bye-election where cases of indiscipline where witnessed by their officers, investigations into their conduct are underway and those found culpable will be dealt with. He says that police officers must carry out their work professionally.

He says that with the upcoming electoral period, the police have the necessary manpower to ensure it is peaceful.
