A woman in Pallisa district is at large for assaulting her mother together with her sibling leading to her death.

The deceased has been identified as Esteri Agote Ikesa, 76, while the suspects are Rose Asio and Sarah Kayendeke, both residents of Kateki village, Apopong sub-county, Pallisa district.

The incident occurred on Monday morning, when Ikesa, demanded that her daughter return two cows that had been sold to educate Asio's children without her consent. The two daughters beat their mother critically. She died while being rushed to a health facility.

According to Moses Kitiyo Mwanga, the Bukedi North region police commander, Asio and Kayendeke assaulted Ikesa, who later died while receiving treatment at Katekwana Trading Center Clinic. Kitiyo says Asio has been arrested, while Kayendeke remains on the run.

Kitiyo says police have visited the scene, recorded statements from witnesses, and conveyed Ikesa's body to Pallisa General Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination. He adds that the findings indicate that Ikesa had a long-standing domestic dispute with her daughter Asio over the cows and that she was assaulted by the suspects.
