Elgon FM Listeners under their umbrella, Bumbo Elgon FM Listeners Forum have extended support to a widow and her five children in Namisindwa District.
The listeners visited Phyllis Masawi in Bukuwa ward in Lwakhakha town council. Masawi lost her husband in an accident in January this year. She is also looking after five children. John Bukania, the treasure of the listener’s forum says a video of Masawi asking for support in their WhatsApp group was touching and they visited her to carry out a needs assessment. Bukania says they started a campaign to support her with basic needs. Some of the items collected and handed to Masawi include flour, sugar, soap and some startup funds.
Watila Martin the Chairperson of the elderly in Bukhoma ward applauded the association for the support and asked them to also lobby for support towards educating the five orphans.
Phyllis Masawi, welcomed the support and said her children were still struggling with clothing needs and where to sleep. She is still asking good Samaritans to help her live a better life.
Bwayo Emma, the Marketing manager Elgon FM applauded the executive of Bumbo Elgon FM Listeners forum for the generous act. Bwayo who handed over the items asked other associations to always extend support to those in need.
