People planning to
sabotage the coming national population census face arrest.
Uganda is set to
conduct the National Population and housing Census 2024 with the reference
night being 9th May 2024. The Census will be done in 10 days starting on 9th
May 2024 to 19th May 2024.
Speaking to sub
county supervisors after a nine days training in Sironko, Frank Muzoora the
Sironko District Police Commander says they have received intelligence that some
people plan to shun the census exercise over unknown reasons. Muzoora asked the
sub county supervisors to notify security in case they register such cases.
Warren Asiima the Sironko District
census commissioner and a representative of Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS)
says they have trained the sub county supervisors on how to operate the tablets
and enter data.
Milton Nabaya the councilor representing
Butandiga town council urged Sironko residents to embrace the exercise to
enable government get clear population figures.
