46 Ebola contacts of a nurse who succumbed to the deadly Sudan Ebola Virus have been discharged from the various health units where they had been quarantined.

Nasike Asumin the Mbale Resident City Commissioner and also the Chairperson of the Ebola Task Force in Mbale says that 18 and 28 people were discharged on Monday and Tuesday this week respectively, making a total of 46 people.

According to Nasike, the discharged people were quarantined for 21 days so as to be monitored for symptoms of Ebola. She says that with more than 100 Ebola contacts quarantined, 6 tested positive for Ebola and 2 have now returned negative results after being managed by health experts.

Nasike says that another sizeable number of contacts will be discharged on Wednesday following the 21 day quarantine period. She has urged the public to desist from stigmatizing the people who have been discharged from quarantine saying they have tested negative for the deadly Ebola Sudan virus.
