Police
in Budaka are investigating circumstances under which a 20-year-old student
reportedly hanged herself to death on Sunday.
Kolovina Naisiga, a student of Budini Secondary School in
Kaliro District reportedly committed suicide on Sunday at her parents’ home in Bukomolo
village, Kadatuni parish, Katira Sub County in Budaka District.
Bukedi North regional police spokesperson Samuel Semewo
confirmed the incident saying Naisiga’s body was found hanging in her room and was
taken to Mbale City Mortuary for postmortem.
Semewo says detectives are yet to ascertain circumstances
under which Naisiga committed suicide. He says preliminary investigations show
that Naisiga at the time of her death was pregnant. A teacher who spoke on
condition of anonymity said Naisiga was a bright and disciplined girl.
