Heavy rains have
left 100 families in Butaleja Sub County in Butaleja District displaced.
The rains which pounded the area for about three hours on
Thursday evening destroyed houses including one belonging to an 86-year-old, Monica
Kanyere. Kanyere, a widow says the roof of her house was blown away and
currently has no accommodation.
Grace Kadondi another victim says she lost all her crops like
rice and cassava. The victims are calling for support to address the
challenges.
Charles Busiga, LCI chairperson for Bumwoni village has called
for urgent support to aid the people with no food and accommodation.
Joseph Owor, the Butaleja district vice chairman says they will
notify the disaster preparedness ministry for action.
