National Unity Platform (NUP) Party President
Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has described the late Anthony Wameli as person who
dedicated his life to fighting for the rights of Ugandans.
Kyagulanyi said this yesterday
at the burial of lawyer Anthony Wameli in Bukhaweka town council in Namisindwa
District.
Kyagulanyi said the late
Wameli represented several NUP supporters and many Ugandans who were arrested
and allegedly tortured for opposing the ruling government during and after the
general elections of 2021.
John Baptist Nambeshe
the NUP Vice President for Eastern Uganda said they will continue demanding for
the release of their supporters arrested during and after the general
elections.
Wameli was the head of
the legal team of the National Unity Platform and contested for the Namisindwa
County Parliamentary position losing to the eventual winner, Apollo Masika. He
died in the United States of America after battling colon cancer.
