Members of the opposition political parties have warned against vote rigging in the forthcoming by-election in Dokolo district.

The seat became vacant following the passing of the former Woman MP Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal on January 18th, 2024. Referring to how things unfolded during the Oyam North by- election, the politicians demanded impartiality and vigilance from voters and the Electoral Commission ahead of Thursday polling.

Jimmy James Michael Akena Obote, the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) party president who believes that there are already plans to rig votes has already pitched camp in Dokolo to ensure that the whole process goes on smoothly.

Patrick Oboi Amuriat, the Forum for Democratic Change party president who confirmed that by-elections are always marred with vote rigging says his party will use late Cecilia Ogwal’s structures to protect their votes.

Meanwhile, North Kyoga Police spokesman Patrick Jimmy Okema, says security has been heightened with intelligence agencies deployed to ensure that no illegality is committed.
