Cases of fraud have been cited in the disbursement of funds
to beneficiaries of government’s Parish Development Model (PDM) in Sironko
District.
Gumonye
Peter a resident of Bumadeyemu parish in Busiita Sub County is a member of
Bumadyemu parish development sacco in Sironko District. According to Gumonye,
he received a mobile money message of one million shillings on his phone but
the money was immediately withdrawn with a message notifying him of how he had
sent it to someone else and that he had changed his password.

Ephraim Balwaniregha the Sironko Resident District Commissioner says the
introduction of a mobile wallet platform, WENDI, by Post Bank last year saved
PDM beneficiaries from having to travel physically to their respective banks to
access PDM funds. Balwaniregha however says that some unscrupulous elements
have hacked the WENDI banking platform and five beneficiaries have lost money
transferred to their personal mobile money numbers.

suspected hacker, Eddy Magomu to aid in the investigations.
