Florence Nambozo Mayoga the Sironko District Woman Member of Parliament says she will vie for the position of chairperson of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Sironko.
NRM last week unveiled its internal elections’ roadmap for lower party structures from the village to the district level.
NRM Electoral Commission Chairman, Dr. Tanga Odoi said that no academic qualifications are required for candidates to participate in the elections.
This means that Nambozo will take on Hajji Suleiman Mafabi Lumolo the current NRM Chairperson for Sironko District. According to Nambozo, the decision stems from some elements who have tarnished her name claiming that she defected to the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC). Nambozo says she stood as an independent candidate but NRM leaning and now ready to take charge of the affairs of the party in Sironko District.
Nambozo who beat the NRM flag bearer Asha Nabulo Mafabi for the Sironko Woman Parliamentary position in the 2021 elections is optimistic that once elected as Sironko District NRM Chairperson, there will be transparency and fairness in the party electoral systems.
