Butiru County Member of Parliament in Manafwa District Godfrey Matembu Wakooli has embarked on a plan to improve the state of roads in his constituency.
Wakooli is doing this in conjunction with authorities at Manafwa District Local Government Council.
Speaking at the launch of the rehabilitation works in Mayanza Sub County, Godfrey Wakooli said most of the feeder roads in his constituency are in a poor state and residents struggle to access markets for their produce. Wakooli said that they have started with improving the state of the Mayanza- Bukhofu road but will extend to other roads that are in a poor state.
Manafwa LCV Chairperson Kigayi Hosea Kimono says that they decided to partner with Members of Parliament to ensure that the state of roads improves as they wait for government support.
Namwokoyi Michael and Nate Stephen both residents of Mayanza Sub County have welcomed the support by MP Wakooli and Manafwa District authorities saying transportation costs had gone up because of the poor state of the road.
