The suspect is Lydia Wemesa a resident of Bukibumbi village, Bukibumbi parish in Bukalasi Sub County.
Milton Kamoti Wasunguyi the LCV chairperson for Bududa district says the incident this morning when all neighbors had gone to their gardens. Wasunguyi says the two minors; a five year old, a biological child to the suspect and another 6 year old, a son to her co-wife.
Residents found the two minors lying in a pool of blood. They later made an alarm which attracted other people who wanted to lynch Wemesa. Wemesa took off to Mt. Elgon National Park.
Rogers Taitika the Elgon region police spokesperson confirms Wemesa’s arrest and says she is currently being detained at Bududa Police Station. Taitika says efforts are underway to ascertain the mental state of the suspect.
