Namisindwa District Woman Member of Parliament Peace Khalayi has pledged to lobby for the upgrade of Bumbo Health Centre III to IV status in her five year tenure.
Khalayi sounded the pledge after being sworn in as the Namisindwa District Woman Member of Parliament. According to Khalayi, Namisindwa lacks a Health Centre IV and this forces expectant mothers to seek referrals at Bugobero Health Centre IV in Manafwa District, Bududa Hospital or Mbale Regional Referral Hospital in Mbale City.
She says the fact that expectant mothers have to move long distances for better health care calls for elevation of Bumbo Health Centre III to IV status.
Amina Saimini from Lwakhakha says that Khalayi comes at a time Namisindwa has lacked effective representation for the position of Woman Member of Parliament for quite some time.
