Buwuma primary school in Lwakhakha town council, Namisindwa District is in urgent need of iron sheets for four classrooms that were destroyed by rains in December last year.

The authorities at the government aided school have now decided that the affected pupils from primary one to four study between 8:00-10am in the open and are thereafter sent home before the rains start.

Rogers Wamoto the school head teacher says with the rainy season underway, they took the decision to reduce the study time for pupils in lower classes. Wamoto says they cannot keep the children at school with no proper shelter during the rainy season.

Emma Bwayo the Namisindwa District Youth Councilor says they raised the matter with the District authorities and 20 tarpaulins were donated for temporally shelter awaiting government support in terms of iron sheets to roof the four classrooms.

Juliet Solome Namara the Namisindwa Deputy Resident District Commissioner has called for government support towards the school so that the affected children are able to study on full time basis.
