This call was made by Felix Opega a Principal Auditor from the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) while meeting a section of journalists at Shine On Hotel in Mbale City today.

Opega said the meeting was aimed at empowering journalists with skills on best they can use reports from the auditor general’s office to properly report on matters of accountability in a bid to fight corruption.

He says that if corrupt public officials are exposed by the journalists, it will supplement government effort in improving service delivery.

Emma Bwayo one of the journalists working with Elgon FM welcomed the training but asked authorities to take punitive action against corrupt officials. He said despite the office of the auditor general playing its cardinal role, there is still a challenge in implementing its findings.
