Kween Commercial Officer Remanded Over Extortion

Kween District Commercial Officer Sylvester Bomet, has been remanded over theft and extortion allegations under the government’s Emyooga Programme.


 

Sipi Region Police Spokesperson Fredmark Chesang says the suspect was arrested upon his return from Kenya where he had fled to evade arrest.

 

Bomet was on Wednesday arraigned in court on charges of theft and extortion. He denied the charges and was remanded until August 9, 2024.

 

According to the Kween Resident District Commissioner Hope Atuhaire, the suspect is alleged to have misappropriated more than 80 million shillings under the government’s Emyooga programme.
