A total of 5,055 candidates will take this year’s Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) in Mbale District.

The statistics were revealed on Friday during a training for invigilators going to oversee the forthcoming Primary Leaving Examinations across Mbale District. 204 invigilators and 69 chief invigilators have undergone training on proper examination management.

 

Asadi Walufu the Mbale District Inspector of Schools says that of the 5,055 candidates registered for the examinations, male candidates are 2,210 while their female counterparts are 2,845. Walufu says that 135 candidates will take the examinations under the special needs category. Mbale District has 76 primary schools of which 7 are private and 69 are government aided.

 

Cate Kabuya, a teacher at Namakwekwe Primary School is one of the invigilators. Kabuya says that following the training, she is ready to ensure that the examinations go on without any cases of malpractice.

 

Mbale LCV Chairperson Muhammad Mafabi expressed optimism of the success of the primary seven candidates urging parents to provide the necessary support to the candidates as they take their final examinations.
