The Police in the
Kiira region are investigating the circumstances under which a fire gutted the
girls' dormitory at Wings of Hope Christian School, in Buwenge Sub County,
Jinja District.
The
fire is reported to have gutted the primary five girls' dormitory at about 2:30
pm when the pupils were already in class. It destroyed the student's property
including mattresses, clothing, and books.
Simon
Kibombo, the Head Teacher says that residents in the area teamed up with police
to put out the fire before it could spread to other dormitories.
Kibombo
adds that all the pupils are safe but, he is liaising with police authorities
to ascertain the extent of the damage.
The
Kiira Region Police Spokesperson, James Mubi says that preliminary
investigations indicate that, the fire resulted from an electrical short
circuit.
