Luwa town council residents in Namisindwa District have petitioned the Inspectorate of Government (IGG) and Police citing alleged irregularities in the recruitment of enumerators and supervisors for the coming population census exercise.

Innocent Wandeka a resident of Luwa town council claims that many enumerators and supervisors selected lacked the requisite academic qualifications.  According to Wandeka, more than 10 people selected only have Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results slips.

Paul Kigai, another resident claims that some people who neither applied nor participated in the interviews were included in the list of the successful candidates.

Moses Masaba Kituyi, an anti-corruption activist from Namisindwa, accuses the District authorities of fronting relatives, friends and in-laws for the census jobs.

Solome Juliet Namara the Namisindwa Deputy Resident District Commissioner has confirmed receipt of the petition and says the matter is being investigated.
