The governing body of Mbale Police Primary School in Mbale City has resolved to block the transfer of their head teacher Betty Nabugobero to Nakaloke Primary School.

Nabugobero was transferred to Nakaloke Primary School while Ismail Mulenga who has been heading Nakaloke Primary School was transferred to Mbale Police Primary School.

Elgon Region Police Spokesperson Rogers Taitika says that the governing body comprising of the Mbale Police School Management Committee and Parents, Teachers Association (PTA) chaired by the Mbale City Police Commander Kenneth Bakashaba in a meeting held on Tuesday this week resolved to reject the transfer of Betty Nabugobero to Nakaloke Primary School.

According to Taitika, the leadership of Nabugobero had led to sound academic performance and there is no way they can allow her to be transferred. In the 2024 Primary Leaving Examinations, out of the 142 candidates who sat, 31 passed in division one, 101 in division two while 10 candidates were in division three.

Compared with Nakaloke Primary School which had no candidate in division one, 44 in division two, 56 in division three, 25 in division four and 34 candidates failing PLE, the Mbale Police Primary School board does not want to lose a head teacher with a proven academic track record.

Mbale City Public Relations officer James Kutosi declined to comment on the matter instead referring our reporter to the education department. Efforts to get a comment from Francis Kooko, the Mbale City Education Officer were futile as he did not pick our calls.
