The
three districts of Sironko, Bukedea and Bulambuli are to benefit from a 76
million US dollar water project.
The project with funding from the
African Development Bank will be implemented under the Ministry of Agriculture,
Animal Industry and Fisheries(MAAIF).
Sironko District Chief
Administrative Officer Nelson Kirenda says the project will see the
construction of a water system to aid farmers in irrigating their crops.
Kirenda says construction works will soon get underway in Bukedea district
along the Sironko river.
Kirenda is optimistic that the
project once complete will also reduce flooding and help to boost agricultural
productivity through irrigation of crops.
