held a peaceful demonstration over the poor state of Mare-Kalidi road.

The residents blame their leaders for not pushing for the fixing of the Mare-Kalidi road. They also accuse the Bubulo West Member of Parliament Christopher Welikhe of not honoring a campaign pledge of ensuring that the Mare-Kalidi road is rehabilitated. Welikhe is also accused of having culverts in his home instead of handing them out to the community to improve the state of roads.

Robert Malinga, Makwa Samson, Retired Sgt. Wandela and Wakoko Samson all residents of Bumufuni say the poor state of the road is challenging to many expectant mothers heading to health facilities.

But Sezi Kaboole the Khabutoola Sub County LCIII Chairperson says the Sub County only receives two million shillings every financial year for the rehabilitation of 20 roads. Kaboole says the funds are not enough to execute road works on all the roads. He has asked residents to remain calm saying the Maare-Kalidi road will be rehabilitated this financial year.

Christopher Welikhe, the Bubulo West Member of Parliament says the culverts are from his own sweat and the residents should ask the local government to work on the road. Welikhe says that rehabilitating roads is not one of his cardinal roles.
