Over 200 Students Benefit from BCU Tertiary Education Fund

More than 200 students will undertake tertiary education courtesy of a bursary scheme by Bugisu Cooperative Union(BCU).


BCU General Manager Barbra Wasagali says that students from all the nine BCU zones applied and underwent rigorous selection process. According to Wasagali, the successful applicants have been notified.

Wasagali explained that the scholarship funds for successful applicants have been transferred to the respective University accounts. She asked farmers to continue supporting the union by entrusting it with their coffee. 

BCU Board Treasurer Nathan Mabonga said that the bursary scheme is funded by profits from coffee sales as one way of giving back to the community. Mabonga said that this year alone, 250 million UGX was allocated to the bursary scheme. He urged the scheme beneficiaries to concentrate on their studies.

Nasimolo Aaron and Bwayo Lazarus are some of the beneficiaries of the scheme. Nasimolo and Bwayo applauded the BCU board led by Nathan Nandala Mafabi for the opportunity to enable them access tertiary education.
