A mother of four in Sironko District was one of the top performing students in the Uganda Certificate Education (UCE) examinations that were released on Thursday.

Sarah Nafuna aged 30 and a resident of Mutufu town council sat her examinations at Sironko Parents’ Secondary School. She scored 17 aggregates.

According to Nafuna, she dropped out of school in 2010 after getting pregnant. Nafuna who is married to a prominent businessman in Mbale City, opted to return to school, a reason she joined Sironko Parents’ Secondary School in senior one up to the time she sat for her ordinary level.

Nafuna has urged young mothers to go back to school so as to brighten their future life prospects. She intends to pursue biology, chemistry and agriculture (BCA) at advanced level so as to attain her dream of becoming an agriculturalist.

Isaiah Sasaga the director Sironko Parents’ Secondary School says Nafuna’s performance attests to the fact that despite challenges encountered by the girl child, they can be successful.
