Mbale City Police On The Spot For Alleged Shooting.

Silver Wangalwa, a 20 year old man from Namabasa village in Northern City Division in Mbale City needs 10 million shillings to undergo an operation for a bullet would after a shooting by a police officer last week.


Irene Wandera an aunt to the victim says Wangalwa was shot by a police officer Moses Ojok attached to Namatala Police Station. Ojok who was reportedly in his garden decided to shoot Wangalwa accusing him of trespassing on his land. Wandera says the Ojok after took the victim to Mbale General Clinic but when his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital.


The family is now stuck and in urgent need of 10 million shillings for an operation to remove the bullet stuck in Wangalwa’s back side. Police has reportedly not offered any financial assistance.


But Denis Pahani the Industrial City Division Police Commander says the errant police officer will personally face the legal consequences of his action. Pahani says Ojok was arrested but released on bond as they wait for sanctioning of his file by the Directorate of Public Prosecution. Pahani says that as Police there is nothing much they can do to support the victim.
