Budadiri Authorities have Banned Machetes in Circumcision Processions

Authorities in Budadiri Town Council in Sironko District have banned the practice of wielding machetes during traditional circumcision processions.


This was arrived at during a security meeting held in Budadiri Town Council on Sunday. Francis Maniaku the Budadiri Town Council LCIII Chairperson says that following a number of incidents where circumcision processions are filled with people holding machetes, they have resolved to ban them as a way of safe guarding lives. He says that anyone who flouts the agreed position faces arrest.

Maniaku also says that anyone found hurling obscenities during circumcision processions will be arrested. According to Maniaku, the resolutions are aimed at maintaining the sanctity of the Bamasaba culture. He has also assured the residents of a peaceful and secure festive season saying that acts of cattle theft and burglary will not be tolerated.
