Opposition
Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) will fill the positions of four of its
members in Mbale City who defected to the National Unity Platform (NUP) party
recently.
The defectors include Hajji Masa
Musa, the secretary for the elderly in Industrial City Division, Mutwalibi Zandya,
the former Mbale City Mayor, Muhammad Fozi and one only identified as Bakali.
The four members defected at an NUP consultative meeting held in Mbale City
recently. The NUP consultative meeting was attended by the party President,
Robert Kyagulanyi.
Mafabi Sezi the FDC Chairperson for
Mbale City at a press briefing on Thursday stated that the party has no regrets
over the defections. Sezi described the four defectors as rebels who had been
at odds with the party leadership.
Badiru Nabende, the FDC party
administrator, said the party following the defections, the party had planned
to replace the four members this weekend but that process has now been
postponed. Nabende insists that despite the defections, FDC remains strong in
Mbale City.
